Organized by the Amelia Island Whale Ambassadors
Celebrate the return of the critically endangered North Atlantic right whales to their winter calving grounds, right here off Amelia Island!
Look for the sign of the whale in local businesses! Businesses are helping to share awareness about the North Atlantic right whale by posting information about the whales, selling whale themed merchandise, hosting events, or naming a special after the whales! These are all conversation starters about the North Atlantic right whale. This endangered whale returns to our waters to have their calves every year. We hope everyone learns about the whales and ways we can help protect them! Enjoy supporting your local businesses and learning about whales all at the same time!
At the end of the week, spend the day at the Right Whale Festival on Main Beach Park - November 7 & 8!
For Businesses:
We ask for your participation in Right Whale Week to help promote awareness of the return of our precious whales! 2026 is our fourth year organizing Right Whale Week! The event has grown each year, and we would love to have even more participation this year!
Here are some ideas for participation:
*Have a window display featuring the North Atlantic right whale:
~with information to share awareness or even just fun artwork!
*Feature your favorite whale merchandise!
*Name a special drink or food item after our special whales
*Display information about the whales or upcoming festival in your business
(We can help provide coasters, posters, table toppers)
*Hold an event to celebrate the whales
*Name a sale or discount after the whales (whale of a sale? The right sale to shop?)
What is the cost to participate?
It’s free! Our goal is to help spread awareness!
We will promote participating businesses on our social media and website as a part of the event!
We will have a “sign of the whale” that we will drop off for you to display to show that you are a participating business!
Is this the same thing as the Right Whale Festival?
The Right Whale Festival is hosted by Clearwater Marine Aquarium Research Institute and NOAA Fisheries, in partnership with the Amelia Island Whale Ambassadors, a local nonprofit organization. The Amelia Island Whale Ambassadors organize Right Whale Week, as a way to raise awareness about North Atlantic right whales and encourage participation in the Right Whale Festival as an opportunity to learn more about this critically endangered species.
