Right in the Eye | VI FIAE
About this Event
CENTRAL FLORIDA PREMIERE. Open Scene brings France’s Alcoléa & Cie to Central Florida with Right in the Eye, a live musical and visual performance featuring three musicians, more than 50 instruments and sound-making objects, and a playful mix of music, images, rhythm, and cinema.
Performed entirely live, the show turns 12 fantastical films from the early days of cinema into a lively musical experience. The films are by cinema pioneer Georges Méliès, but no knowledge of Méliès or film history is needed to enjoy the performance.
It is funny, highly visual, and unlike a conventional concert or film screening. There is no language barrier: you do not need to speak English, Spanish, or French to enjoy the show.
Right in the Eye makes its Central Florida Premiere as part of VI FIAE, Open Scene’s International Performing Arts Festival.
This is not a traditional film screening with musical accompaniment. The musicians, instruments, objects, and creation of the soundtrack are part of the spectacle itself, as music and moving images work together to bring Méliès’ extraordinary cinematic worlds to life.
