Join the Protectors of the Salt River for our beloved monthly bike ride along the beautiful Rio Salado corridor! This is a wonderful way to start your weekend, connect with nature, meet fellow community members, and enjoy a scenic morning ride. 🦋
Our October ride will take us from the bustling shore of Tempe Town Lake to the serene habitat of the Nina Mason Pulliam Rio Salado Audubon Center.
🗓️ WHEN:
Saturday, October 11th
Meet up at 7:00 AM | Roll out at 7:15 AM
📍 WHERE:
Starting Point: Tempe Town Lake Marina
Address: 550 E Tempe Town Lake, Tempe, AZ 85281
We'll gather near the marina and bike path entrance.
Pit Stop / Turnaround Point: Nina Mason Pulliam Rio Salado Audubon Center
Address: 3131 S Central Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85040
🚴 THE ROUTE:
We will ride west from Tempe Town Lake along the paved multi-use path that follows the Rio Salado. The total round-trip distance is approximately 13 miles at a casual, no-drop pace suitable for all skill levels.
One of the best features of this route is its safety; we will not cross any major vehicle intersections, allowing for a relaxing and continuous ride.
At the Audubon Center, we will take a break to rest, refill water bottles, and use the restroom before beginning our journey back to Tempe Town Lake.
✅ SAFETY & PREPARATION:
Your safety and comfort are important to us. Please come prepared with the following:
A bike in good working order. (Please check your tire pressure and brakes before you arrive!)
A helmet is strongly recommended for all riders.
Plenty of water. Even in the morning, it's important to stay hydrated.
Sun protection, such as sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat.
A small snack for energy, if you like.
This is a family-friendly event open to everyone. We can't wait to see you there and share the beauty of our river!
