Calling all cyclists!Fancy a great day out with your family and friends whilst raising awareness and donations for a great charity?
Then why not dust off your cycling gear and join in with a bike ride across West Lancashire and help us to raise money for the Spinal Injuries Association with our 50 mile route!
In 2003 Gary Dawson came off his motorbike in a freak accident which left him completely paralysed from the chest down. SIA offered not just Gary, but his whole family support, providing information and advice on how to cope and adapt to this life changing injury.
One of the services SIA provides is Peer Support, giving spinal cord injured people someone to talk to, ask questions and obtain guidance from, someone who has themselves been spinally injured. Gary now works in one of these positions and has seen first hand the benefits of the charity's work in helping people come to terms with a life changing disability.
Every Eight Hours Someone is Permanently Paralysed
We'd love for you to join us the 50 mile circular route to raise money for the Spinal Injuries Association 2026 overseas cycle challenge and help support those affected by spinal cord injuries!
The day will start from 7:30am (last set off at 9am) from New Longton near Preston and will encompass the tranquil country roads of West Lancashire and views of the Ribble estuary when you cycle down the coastal road of the seaside town Southport, heading to our half way stop at the delicious Woollen Pig. The way back is much the same with the added stop of the Twin Lakes Velo cafe, a true gem to those who know!
There will be water stops at roughly half and three quarters to help quench your thirst!
You have the choice to follow the route using RideWithGPS or join one of our groups on the day!
