Cycle Ride & Trailside Maintenance with Cheri MillsJoin us for a sociable ride and hands-on trailside maintenance session with Cheri Mills – experienced cycle coach, bike mechanic, and all-round expert in fixing things (yes, she’s even a car mechanic too!).
This is not about big miles or technical riding – it’s about learning to handle the common problems you might face out on the trails. From fixing a puncture in the rain to sorting slipping gears, you’ll leave feeling more confident, capable, and independent when you ride.
What you’ll learn:
- How to fix punctures outdoors (because it’s very different than in the garage!)
- How to convert to single speed if your gears fail
- Chain repairs and gear adjustments
- What tools and spares to carry (and why)
- Loads of top tips to keep you rolling
Ride details:
- Distance: Max 10 miles approx. (15 km) on non-technical trails
- Bike: Hybrid, gravel, mountain bike, Ebike or any bike with off-road (nobbly) tyres
- Pace: Sociable, with stops along the way for maintenance training
Onsite café for coffee and cake afterwards if you wish
Age constraints:
The workshop is for anyone, aged 14 and above.
Ages 14 - 15 must ride with a parent/guardian
Ages 16 - 17 can ride alone with parental/guardian consent
This event is designed especially for those who want to be able to be self reliant on the trails. If you’re tired of asking your mates, the kids, or anyone for help when something goes wrong, this session will give you the skills (and confidence) to get yourself back on the bike and back to base.
Come for the ride, takeaway the skills – and leave knowing you can handle whatever the trail throws at you.
