Guitar League Saint Pete is very happy happy to have a new location at the American Legion thanks to Rebecca Westfall! We will meet on November 13th, 2024 at the Gulfport American Legion 125 – sign in at 6:30pm. We are excited to have Rick Schilling as the Main Presenter!

About our presenter:

Rick is a Grammy-nominated chamber musician and was a professor of music in New England for 3 decades. He is currently heard every Friday evening at Jack’s London Grill on solo guitar from 6 to 9 pm. His music career has included solo recitals, recordings, jazz and pop groups, and vocal accompaniment. He also plays with legendary singer Rose Jamieson, who is his duo partner in 'Rose and Rick' since 1995 and is heard regularly at Pasquale’s Trattoria in Tampa. Rick also teaches guitar and popular piano at Seminole Music in Largo. He has music degrees from the University of Minnesota and the New England Conservatory.

2nd Half guitar playing:

The first half of the meeting will be Rick performing for your entertainment. In the second half of the meeting, we will all play our guitars - so be sure to bring your guitar and a capo! Rick will lead us in these songs and sing them for us while we all play along.

Club details:

The Guitar League generally meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month from 6:30 PM to 9 PM (sign in & registration at 6:30) at the American Legion located at 6440 5th Ave S, Saint Petersburg 33707.

At each meeting, the main presenter spends the first 50 minutes sharing a mixture of performing and discussing their craft, something truly unique in the entertainment industry. Next, we take a 20-minute break, and the 2nd half is your chance to play your guitar along with the presenter and the rest of the club. Attendees are encouraged to bring their acoustic guitar, capo and tuner if they have one.

A prospective member’s first meeting is always free to test-drive the organization. Membership is $120/year for 12 monthly meetings ($10/meeting) or $15 per month. Membership includes access to a huge curated library of free online lessons from guitar instruction industry leader Truefire and deep discounts on their All-Access plan. The Saint Petersburg chapter of Guitar League is the eighth chapter of the Syracuse, NY based organization. Chapters are located in Syracuse N.Y., Asheville, NC, Boston North, MA, Central Massachusetts, Phoenix, AZ, Poconos, PA and Southern Wisconsin, WIS.
