Scottish-born and now Castlemaine-local Rich Davies brings The Low Road to town for a FREE show at Shedshaker — a special preview of their expanded lineup ahead of the National Celtic Festival.Fusing trad-roots instrumentation with rock-band intensity, the Low Road deliver soaring five-part gang vocals with a sonic landscape equal parts folk club and sweaty dive bar, and are set to blow the roof off the Taproom.
A festival favourite at Woodford, Port Fairy and Maldon, the band have also showcased at Folk Alliance International and earned an Australian Folk Music Awards Artist of the Year nomination.
At the core are Davies’ narrative-driven songs, steeped in Celtic and Appalachian traditions. His anthem ‘Dirt Under My Nails’ has been covered by The Bushwackers, inducted into their Big Australian Songbook, and nominated for a Golden Guitar.
Expect wit and banter, heart-on-sleeve storytelling, sing-along choruses, and joyous folk’n’roll 🤘.
