Rich Bireley at Milwaukee Aquarium Society

Rich Bireley has been an aquarist his whole life. He started life as a cichlid hobbyist, keeping almost exclusively cichlids for many years. Following a trip to Lake Tanganyika, Rich really started to diversify the kinds of fish he kept. He is on his 3rd fish room with the current version being a 2,000 sq. ft. steel building 50 feet from the house. Rich now keeps a bit of everything with the exception of saltwater. Rich keeps all sizes of aquariums including multiple 1,000 gallon tanks and an 8’ x 24’ x 3’ deep tub with large catfish.
Rich is a life member of multiple local fish clubs, co-founded the Pacific Coast Cichlid Association in 1986, has been active in the Sacramento Aquarium Society for decades and currently is serving as chair for the American Cichlid Association.
