Rich Assessment with Rubrics

This event is for instructors at the School of Visual Arts.
Rubrics are an often-overlooked item in the instructor’s assessment toolbox. By clearly defining the criteria that will be evaluated for an assignment, and defining different levels of achievement for those criteria, rubrics can clarify your expectations for students, make grading transparent and consistent, and provide a foundation for rich and meaningful feedback. This workshop will provide guidance on thinking about and constructing rubrics, and participants will get started on writing a rubric for one of their spring assignments. We’ll also look at how to implement a rubric in Canvas and take advantage of some of Canvas’ useful features such as building your own rubric library.
