Meet Rich Ankeney at the Annual Ice Cream Social on Sunday, June 28th!
Rich Ankeney is Modernist in attitude, influenced by Jazz music and many artists, most notably Wassily Kandinsky. He is a representational artist, but chooses to represent not the world of appearances, but emotional situations and psychic spaces. His works are characterized not by a single technology, method, process, or subject, but rather by sustained engagement with fundamental elements of art and the mechanics of viewing.
Ankeney is an artist and photographer from Galesburg, Illinois, with over 50 years of experience in photography and a renewed passion for painting and printmaking. He holds degrees in painting and photography, art education, and instructional technology. He taught art and photography at Carl Sandburg College for over 25 years, and his works have been widely exhibited and celebrated for its innovative approach.
