Ricercar Consort, joined by Grammy® nominated soprano Céline Scheen, will perform works of Monteverdi, Purcell, Vivaldi, and Handel. In The Virgin’s Teares, the group explores music written in honor of the Virgin Mary during the Counter-Reformation. The music portrays the emotions of joy, anger, doubt, and despair often seen in visual art from this period.
Founded in 1980 by viola da gambist Philippe Pierlot, Ricercar Consort’s reputation for stirring performance is unparalleled.
