Ric’s Bio
Richmond’s own Ric E. Ric (Saxophonist, songwriter, producer, actor, health advocate) returns to Yoshi’s in Oakland on July 21, 2026, fresh off sharing the stage with Jamie Foxx during a live audience taping of Foxx’s stand-up comedy special to be released on the streaming platform Hulu. Ric E. Ric is celebrating the release of his long-awaited album entitled “Triple Play” after touring with Oakland’s own Tony Toni Ton’e, featuring the late D’Wayne Wiggins, over the last fourteen years. Come celebrate with Ric E. Ric and his live band, which includes his brother Wilson Brooks - Drums/Vocals, Mark Daniels - Guitar/Vocals, Michael “Tiny” Lindsay - Bass, and Anthony Conlon - Keyboards. Ric states, “Since we have recently lost some of my great friends and influences, I decided to release some songs from my vault that pay tribute to their mastery and the contributions they gave to the music industry over the years.” For example, the first single entitled “Keep It Sexy Steppin” (K.I.S.S.) features the late D’Wayne Wiggins as a nod to the Chicago Style Step Dancers around the world. A smooth saxophone version of “When We Get By” by the late D’Angelo is sure to keep toes tapping and fingers snapping, and a cover of the TV Theme song to Sanford and Son in honor of the late Quincy Jones, so folks never forget how brilliant and talented these individuals were. The other songs on the album explore a wide range of emotions and stories that showcase Ric’s ability to weave and navigate his musical experiences and styles, taking you on a journey from his humble beginnings growing up in Richmond, CA, to traveling the world, playing in stadiums to audiences of over 75,000. Ric E. Ric is known for playing two saxophones simultaneously, rapping, and having surprise celebrity guests “pop-up” at his shows, so you never know who will actually be in the audience when he performs since he has collaborated and been featured on songs for other well-known artists that include the song “You Don’t Know” by Too Short produced by Ant Banks, “Music is Power” by the late D’Wayne Wiggins, and he is featured on several songs on the Bay Area’s own Los Cocinos newly released album. Ric recently partnered with Jonzboy Entertainment to coordinate a national tour. Get your tickets now before they sell out and come witness “Triple Play”, a rare occurrence by another Bay Area legend and local icon as he sets the Yoshi’s stage on fire with his exciting live performance and humorous storytelling.
