An afternoon show featuring 5 student bands from the RI Philharmonic Music School. Two of these groups will be covering video game music from Deltarune/Undertale, the Mario Universe, Final Fantasy, and the Kirby franchise. A relatively new program, these ensembles encourage students to interpret & improvise within the framework of video game music, currently one of the fastest growing musical genres. Two arrangements written by students will be performed by one section.
Both sections of the RIPMS Rock Ensemble will also be performing. One group focuses almost exclusively on 90's grunge/rock (Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, STP etc.) while the other samples from different decades.
Last but not least, the RIPMS Taylor Swift Ensemble will be playing selections from different eras of Taylor's catalog. This is also a very new program at RIPMS where students have an immersive experience analyzing the recordings of one artist in order to better understand how pop music is constructed and how to perform it in a live setting.
