Welcome to Rhythm & Rhyme - Open Mic! Be sure to join us on Saturday, January 24, 2026 as we invite you to join us for another engaging evening where creativity is welcomed and celebrated. It will be a night of a diverse line up of creatives - seasoned professionals to budding artists - all are welcomed for rhythm, rhyme, and real connection through spoken word, music, conversation and more!

Hailing from Long Island, NY, Nicole A. Schmidt, known in creative spaces as NAScreates, is a spoken word artist whose voice carries the grit of lived experience and the grace of intentional storytelling. After more than two decades rooted in the DMV, she has become a vibrant force who blends poetic craft, global perspective, and deep emotional resonance.

As a multidisciplinary creator, NAS brings her passion for storytelling into workshops, collaborations, and creative initiatives designed to help others unlock their own voices. Guided by her personal mantra, "penning to heal self, publishing to heal others," NAScreates approaches writing as both a personal sanctuary and a communal offering; her work is meant to champion connection, healing, and empowerment, reminding audiences that poetry is not just performance — it's a catalyst for change.

Landmark: Entrance to parking lot with brick building is across from Walgreens; bear left upon entering parking lot (look for nail salon), drive over two speed bumps and park in open parking lot by red awning (with 8379 on it) | Once parked, enter through glass double doors under red awning and proceed to Suite F.
