Join Head Gardener Jodie and Senior Gardener Clare Silver on a fascinating garden walk all about the wide variety of vivid rhododendron colour. Both experts will share their learnings on rhododendron colour, before showcasing how to best plant and display rhododendron colour in the garden. The talk will take loose inspiration from renowned garden designer Gertrude Jekyll’s application of colour theory. Gertrude Jekyll, an internationally renowned horticulturalist of the 19th and 20th centuries, took garden design in new directions that combined colour, texture, form and innovation to recognise plants for their intrinsic beauty and usefulness.
Clare Silver has worked for the National Trust for 10 years, but is currently the Senior Gardener for Munstead Wood, where Jekyll lived and worked. Munstead Wood was acquired by the Trust in 2023 and is currently closed with work taking place to enable future public access to Jekyll's personal masterpiece where she gardened for over 50 years.
