Parts & Pieces: Elements of Arabic Music
In this class, we will get right down to the nuts and bolts of Arabic music. From the basic and most used\rhythms in raqs sharqi and an overview of Arabic music and its components that are most helpful for dancers to knowing the terms musicians use and what they mean.

Rhythm fundamentals with Finger Cymbals
The way for a dancer to really solidify their knowledge and memory of Middle Eastern rhythms is to be able to play them. Take the beat out of the ether and into your sagat! This workshop teaches Arabic rhythms useful for bellydancers, starting with the most used and continuing through those used in folkloric dance. Dancers will not only be able to play them but identify them within music via choreography to a classic song. The goal is to walk away with a solid and applicable skill set and notes and tips on musicality. Participants should come with their own finger cymbals already strung, fit, and ready to play.
