Greensboro Artists are gathering to offer a Resolution to City Council to support the REWRITING of the Master Arts Plan.Since the 2018 Master Arts Plan:
Triad Stage has disappeared, the theatre facility gutted.
CTG is claiming financial difficulty.
Creative Greensboro controls the Cultural Center.
The Arts Council controls the Arts Fund.
Parks and Recreation has been separated from City Arts.
The Greensboro Coliseum operations are private, no longer run by the City of Greensboro.
The Tanger Center operations are private, no longer run by the City of Greensboro.
The Folk Center operations are private, no longer run by City Arts and the United Arts Council.
The most successful Theatre Company in Greensboro performs in a church fellowship hall, because the City of Greensboro has removed theatre facilities from community access, and refused to build a new theatre when creating the Tanger Center.
On Feb 3rd, with Council Sponsors, we are asking the City of Greensboro to commit to rewriting the Master Arts Plan with a Task Force prioritizing the needs of local Artists and Educators, over the profits for developers and business owners.
