Claire Annette (Dr. Vince Dominguez) is an internationally recognized clarinetist, music educator, and drag queen known for her glampy style, musical virtuosity, and electrifying live performances. She holds a bachelors, masters, and doctoral degrees in music, is the recipient of Best Local Artist and Top Drag Performer in Rhode Island’s 2023 Options Awards, and is the 2023 Miss Gay New England USofA Newcomer title holder. In 2022 Claire became a signed artist with Henri Selmer Paris clarinets, breaking boundaries as the world’s premier drag clarinetist represented by a major classical music label.
Known for her charismatic presence on the mic, Claire can be found performing nationwide and is a weekend host at Providence’s Dark Lady nightclub and MYRTLE, producing dynamic shows that bring in local talent from all across the region. Notably, she has worked with Idina Menzel during Rhode Island Pride 2023, presented as a keynote speaker at the 2023 one-n-ten Fresh Brunch in Phoenix, AZ, and most recently, performed with the 2024 International Pride Orchestra in New York City and featured as a Headlining Artist at the 2024 International Clarinet Association’s ClarinetFest conference in Dublin Ireland.
An educator at heart, Claire works to dismantle old expectations in classical music, building new audiences and inspiring new generations to own their power and feel represented in classical music as a modern-day leader in the industry. Most recently, Claire headlined Make Music Day 2024 at Scmitt Music Center in Mineappolis, MN, presenting workshops on performance anxiety coupled with a community outreach concert. In 2023, Claire presented a guest artist recital and masterclass series at Tennessee Tech University in response to the nationwide drag bans, bringing local communities together in solidarity with Dr. Mark Cramer, professor of clarinet. Locally, Claire collaborates with Haus of Codec and the Rhode Island’s Spectrum Theatre Ensemble, presenting neurodivergent drag story time hours in collaboration with renowned puppeteer, Big Nazo.
Above all, she he is passionate about building bridges and using her drag to inspire people to rediscover the joy of music and feel empowered as individuals.
