Revolutionary War Re-enactors are Coming to the Historic Cheney Homestead!!!

The Manchester Historical Society and the Cheney Homestead are proud to host one of Connecticut’s largest reenactment groups, Ye Olde Lebanon Towne Militia, on Sunday, July 12 from 10am to 3pm for a Revolutionary War and Colonial Living Encampment on the grounds of the historic Cheney Homestead located at 106 Hartford Rd., Manchester, CT.
Step back in time and experience:
Men at Arms drilling in the 1764 Manual of Arms and Conducting Bayonet Drills
Oxen-drawn cannon with artillery demonstration
18th Century Riflemen
Various Firearms of the 18th Century
Children Drilling with Toy Wooden Muskets
Animal Husbandry
Food Layout with period-appropriate food
Crime and Punishment in Colonial Times
Colonial Life Skills Demonstrations such as Powder Horn Carving, Leather Working, Basket Weaving and Fly Tying
Outdoor Games and Outdoor Toys of the 18th Century
Big Bear Trading – a Privateer Selling Colonial Wares
Take a mini tour of the historic 1785 Timothy Cheney House and see how the ancestors of the Cheney family lived and worked.
Refresh yourself with delicious Royalwich Ice Cream Sandwiches.
Admission is FREE but donations are welcome and benefit the maintenance and preservation of the Cheney Homestead.
