Preparation for the practice:
1) Come with an open mind. Each session is unique, there is no guarantee for specific outcomes. There will be music playing, but you will be breathing out loud in a group of people. This practice may initiate your own emotional release of tears, laughter, sound - all is welcome! You will also be in a room with others going through their own experience - the group dynamic is part of the journey. Consider even bringing a blanket, towel, or pillow to allow yourself to yell into if that feels more comfortable for you.
2) Come with an intention. Is there something you want to learn or discover? Is there something you want to let go or heal? Writing down a powerful intention is the start of a great session. Having a journal and pen nearby after session is also a great way to remember the insights that may come through during your breathwork experience.
3) Prepare your body. Come on a light stomach - do not to eat a big meal 1-2 hours before class, and please refrain from alcohol, stimulants, or drugs 24-hours before the practice.
4) Go at your own pace. Breathing hard and fast is not necessarily better or deeper. Start slow, and get to know your breath and your body. As you get comfortable, you can lean into your edge and pick up the pace.
5) Set up your space. You may want a scarf or eye mask to cover your eyes. You will be laying flat on the ground, so bring a yoga mat, and you may want a blanket for additional warmth or comfort. Do not have a big pillow under your neck if it's constricting your airflow in any way, but you may want something on which to rest your head.
