In 2019, an article in CEOWorld Magazine came out declaring Merida the safest city in Mexico and the second safest city on the Americas Continent. A similar article in Forbes magazine says it’s as safe as Europe.
Merida, Mexico has also received other accolades from CEOWorld Magazine. In 2021, readers named it the #3 best small city in the world (San Miguel de Allende, Mexico was #1).
Similarly, Conde Nast Traveller magazine readers named Merida the #3 best city in the world in 2020!

Ok, with that out of the way...
What is Revolutionary doing there! This is an active and inspired exploration!
The very new Mayan Tren will be our transportation from Cancun to Merida. I took the train in February, it is off to a slow start, but a very comfortable way to travel!
When: January 30- February 5, 2025
Where:
Cancun (1N) - because it is where the airport is :)
Merida (3N) - Explore the historical Mayan city with fascinating history. The Mayan story goes deep and lives there. A trip to cenotes, refreshing and beautiful water holes that are found throughout the Yucatan. A day spent looking for flamingos and enjoying a 'feet in the sand' lunch. In the evening, the square always has cultural activities happening. There will be an opportunity for a walking tour to learn more. And of course, we will try traditional Mayan food, which is much more prevalent that tacos in this area (don't worry, you can still get tacos!
Valladolid (2N) - Known as the “Pearl of the Orient” or “Heroic Zací”. Enjoy the treats of the Yucatan like marquesitas, you must try this sweet treat! Our final full day we will rise early for a private tour to Chichen Itza, a world heritage site. It is not only a pyramid, but an entire Mayan city. We will cool off in a cenote and have lunch before exploring a second Mayan city, Ek Balam, meaning Black Jaguar. With a private guide, we will learn much of the history. You can still climb the pyramids in Ek Balam as of now (knowing that can change at any moment).
Early morning we will return to the Cancun airport by ground transfer. If you would like to extend a few days in Cancun or the Riviera Maya, I would be very happy to help you with accommodations and recommendation on activities.
