Retrofit Society 2.0 - Quarterly Session 13 October 2026

Date: Tuesday 13th October 2026
Time: Registration from 10:00am | Start at 10:30am | Close at 3:00pm
Location: TBC
Cost: Free for all Housing Providers
Places: Strictly limited to 40 participants

One room. One shared mission. Accessing large-scale private finance is now the critical enabler for retrofit at scale. Grants have helped start the journey – but if we want to go further, faster, and cheaper, we need more sustainable approaches.

Join us for our April Retrofit Society 2.0 quarterly meeting with a focus on Aligning Big-Picture Thinking with Operational Precision.

With a renewed focused on finance, this forum is designed to break siloes and make your ambitious projects happen. We’ll explore practical, scalable finance models, demystify risks, and share real-world solutions that unlock retrofit ambitions and deliver healthier, more sustainable homes.

Expect thought-provoking discussion, expert insights, and peer learning, all wrapped into a dynamic, one-day in-person session.

Why attend?

  • Cut through the jargon and complexity of retrofit finance
  • Hear from experts in the industry and key players in energy and finance including the Green Finance Institute, Risehem, Energiesprong, and Metis
  • Learn what’s really working on the ground – and what to avoid
  • Network with other senior leaders tackling similar retrofit challenges

Agenda Retrofit Society 2.0

10:00am - 10:30am Arrival and Networking

10:30am – 11:30am Making Your Neighbourhood Healthy

Creating healthy homes can’t be achieved by landlords alone; it requires a cross-sector approach that bridges multiple systems and disciplines. This session explores how satellite data and green-blue infrastructure mapping can deliver healthy neighbourhoods, which partners to bring on board, and how to embed climate resilience and adaptation into large-scale retrofits. Our speakers will highlight practical solutions members can use to deliver climate-ready communities.

11:30am - 12:15pm Delivering 8,000-home Retrofits Each Year by 2027

Thames Freeport requires £38 billion of retrofit works through to 2050, with an ambition to reach 8,000-home retrofits annually by 2027. Leading the charge with the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, Thurrock Council, and Havering Council is a consortium of ambitious supply chain partners. We will hear from these project leaders on what their industrialised, end-to-end retrofit solution looks like and what successes they have achieved to date.

12:15pm - 1:00pm Lunch

1:00pm - 1:45pm De-risking Action: Before, During, and After Retrofit

Long-term projects offer major opportunities for landlords and residents alike. Yet evolving procurement rules, constrained balance sheet capacity, and the added complexity of leaseholders and Right to Buy mean landlords must carefully manage their risk exposure without crossing stakeholders’ red lines. This session will explore how social housing providers can identify, mitigate, and share risk at every stage of delivery, and the practical strategies that help projects stay on track.

1:45pm - 1:55pm Break

1:55pm – 2:40pm Beyond the Mainstream: Evolving Technologies Under the Microscope

As retrofit ambitions scale up, landlords are looking to technologies that can unlock additional value and support different property types. From balcony-mounted solar panels and ambient heat networks to residential batteries, hybrid PV-T solar panels, and infrared heating, a new generation of innovations are becoming increasingly financially attractive. This session will take a practical look at such retrofit technologies, exploring their strengths, limitations, and where they can add the greatest value across diverse housing portfolios.

2:40pm - 3:00pm What are the Next Steps for Your Success?

In this roundtable discussion, we will discuss the biggest challenges members face in delivering large-scale retrofit. Together, we’ll explore how the Society and fellow landlords can support you in 2027 to drive collective progress.
