Retro Manga Multimedia Evolution for Teens with Alexandra GarciaMonday-Thursday, August 3-6: 1-3 pm

Take a peek way back into manga history from the 60s to the 00s! Each day we will explore different decades and styles and the evolution of retro manga with a variety of mediums. We will be learning how to draw like the famous "mangaka" that built the Anime and Manga empire that we see today. We will draw famous art styles from 5 different decades…including a CD album cover focused on imitating the "City Pop Aesthetic" of the 80s… and learn some fun facts along the way! What did manga even look like in the 1960s? Where did "Shoujo" manga get its start in the 1970s? What exactly is the "Big Three" of the 90s and 2000s? Each student must bring a sketchbook to draw in and their favorite drawing utensils.
