All Tickets £4.50Weekend at Bernie’s (1989) is a dark comedy directed by Ted Kotcheff, starring Andrew McCarthy and Jonathan Silverman as Larry and Richard, two insurance employees who discover that their boss, Bernie Lomax (Terry Kiser), has died. To avoid suspicion and protect themselves from mobsters who are after Bernie, they pretend he is still alive, resulting in increasingly absurd and hilarious situations as they carry him around to maintain the illusion. The film’s slapstick humor and over-the-top antics made it a cult favorite. While it did not win major awards, Terry Kiser’s performance as the “lifeless” Bernie has become iconic in comedy history, and the movie remains a classic of 1980s humor.
