We hear the phrase "I am spiritual but not religious" from people of various beliefs. It sounds appealing - what do they mean? What is spirituality? What kind of spirituality does Jesus invite us into? How does that fit in with an African identity? Can Christians find God in all things or is that dabbling in New Age philosophies? Join us on 18 May at Cornwall Hill College, Nellmapius Drive, Irene from 8:15 - 15:00 as we "rethink spirituality" and engage with these and other questions. The cost is R120. This includes refreshments and a light lunch.
Speakers and Topics:
Thorsten Marbach
Spirituality wide and deep
What is “spiritual”? There are many different answers on offer, inside and outside the church. The Bible’s answer might surprise us – even those inside the church.
Sibusisu Mdluli
Christian spirituality and African identity
When Christian spirituality meets African identity, what happens? Does one need to be reduced to accommodate the other? How can we be true to both?
Themba Gamedze
The spirituality of Jesus
Exploring the spirituality that Jesus models, teaches and lives, and how he invites us into the kind of spirituality we have all been yearning for.
Vera Marbach
Can we find God in all things?
God is not all things, but God is the God of all things. This has profound implications for our spirituality.
The L'Abri conference is for everyone who is interested in spirituality and has honest questions about Christianity.
Please RSVP by emailing [email protected] or whatsapp Vera (number on the picture) by 14 May. Please do share the invite with others.
