About this Event

Have you ever been curious to explore the world of sustainable fashion?

ReStyle Dublin will be a FREE all day event taking over Dun Laoghaire on Saturday the 4th July to celebrate sustainable fashion.

Activities and events will include workshops in repair and upcycling, swap shops, free clothing repair, upcycling and alterations stations, demonstrations in skills new and old, masterclasses in sustainable fashion techniques and practices, talks and panel discussions as well as exhibitions, a sustainble clothing market and fashion show.

The Lexicon Library will host the majority of our days schedule of events including our demonstrations, talks, exhibits, clothing repair and upcycling stations, fashion show and information and is open to the public.

The Carnegie Library will host our workshops which will require the free purchase of add on tickets

Hartley's Restaurant Terrace will host our sustainable clothing market and swapshop

With support from the Rediscovery Centre in delivering the event and funding from MyWaste, The Irish Environmental Network, and Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Council, ReStyle Dublin offers the opportunity for anyone to learn new skills, get inspired with new habits and learn from the leading experts in sustainable fashion across the country.

Tickets are not a requirement - only if you want to attend one of the workshops / masterclasses that have a capacity limit

Drop-in sewing lab all day (no booking required)

Info: Change Clothes Dublin will be running a free clothing repair station all day in the Lexicon Library

Sustainable Fashion Information and Upcycling Station
Host: The Rediscovery Centre

Info: The Rediscover Fashion Team will be at the Lexicon Library all day with an interactive station showing you what your clothes labels mean, and where your clothes come from.
They will be running a free clothing Upcycle and Alteration Station, and giving demonstrations on how you can restyle your clothes. Take a jaunt along the Dun Laoghaire Charity Shop Trail and bring your treasures to the LexIcon library, to be transformed to fit you! From hemming to alterations to just jazzing it up, the team will be there to teach you the tricks of the trade to make your charity shop finds truly your own.

Host: Sheila Clancy O'Donnell

Info: Sheila Clancy O'Donnell is a world renowned sustainable fashion academic, designer and owner of Circular Dress Collaborative in Donegal and will be telling her story travelling the world as a designer to opting for building community through sustainable fashion through her business in Letterkenny.

Info: Bring your pre-loved clothes to our clothing swap at Hartley's Restaurant Terrace and find some new things to treasure or donate things for others to enjoy

Info: This workshop is designed to empower you with the tools and knowledge to build a sustainable and authentic personal style with sustainable stylist Roisin Kelly.

Info: Textile Artist Hannah McElroy will be delivering a demonstration in different types of clothes printing, showing people how they can personalise and restyle their own garments and outfits

Info: There will be 2 embroidery workshops led by Sandra Reynolds throughout the day. Learn how to personalise and epicycle your clothes and create that connection that will make you want to keep something forever

Info: Come to our workshop led by Alex `Konieczka, founder of Understory on the origins of our textiles, where they end up and how we can integrate reuse projects and do simple zero waste textile projects at home

Cyanotype and Solar Printing Demonstration

Info: Come to our cyanotype/solar printing demonstration led by Cuan Cusack who will be showing us how to print silhouettes onto a blank canvas with the power of the sun alone


Masterclass in Clothing Longevity

Info: Led by mywaste.ie this masterclass will teach people all about the different techniques we can integrate into our daily lives to make our clothes last longer

Info: Led by project prolong we will be running an interactive workshop in visible mending and repair in wool and denim darning in the Carnegie Library

Demonstration in Modular Fashion

Info: This demonstration will show attendees how you can create a blue print for clothing out of shapes that can be fitted together to create garments using up cycled and repurposed material. On all day in the Lexicon Library

Info: Come along and learn the basics of weaving with simple textiles, with Olana Kutcher, on all day in the Lexicon Library

The Future of Fashion Show and Panel Discussion

Info: Hosted by Fionnuala Jay, we will be bringing our future of fashion show to the lexicon library's Studio theatre, showcasing sustainable clothing innovation in Dublin, up and coming designers, vintage collections, pre-loved looks and many more. This will follow a panel discussion with speakers from mywaste.ie, NCAD and the rediscovery centre on what the future of sustainable fashion looks like
