Response to Controlled Dangerous Substances: PBA's (CDP 9/21-9/25/26)

In this course responders receive instruction on assessment for identifying and operating in an environment where dangerous substances may be present, discuss the risk to law enforcement and public safety colleagues in the response; identify potential health impacts of exposure to Controlled Dangerous Substances: Fentanyl, Analogs and Pharmaceutical Based Agents and how to safely care for victims of an exposure; personal protective equipment and decontamination and special considerations related to scene safety, evidence collection and operational response. Students will receive instruction and practical application instruction in threat identification and scene response.

Info: Course Prerequisites. To be eligible to attend the course, a student must:

a. Hazardous Materials Awareness (AWR-358) or equivalent.
b. IS-100.b, Introduction to the Incident Command System, IS-100, or any other ICS-100
series courses;
c. IS-200.b, ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents, IS-200, or any other ICS-200
series;
d. Students must also be physically capable of completing all learning activities and exercises
which include the ability to function in PPE and stand for long periods and the ability to move
tactically as a member of a security or clearing team.
