Join us as we examine how changing weather patterns are impacting Scottish farming. From spring droughts to periods of flooding, these conditions influence how farms are managed. This event will explore ways to increase resilience in forage systems, with a focus on winter forage crops and evolving animal disease pressures.Milder winters in recent years have contributed to increased parasite burdens on some farms, along with a rise in cases of Schmallenberg and bluetongue. This event will explore the impacts of emerging and re-emerging livestock diseases and provide guidance on how farmers can best prepare to manage and mitigate these evolving health challenges.
Drier springs and summers have also resulted in some farmers facing shortages of silage or reduced silage quality. This session will highlight how incorporating winter forage crops can help boost output, reduce feed costs, and support compliance with new greening requirements.
Speakers from SEPA will also address water scarcity as well as a pop-up stand from Farming and Water Scotland.
This event will suit anyone looking to make their farming system more resilient
Lunch will be provided so booking is essential.
