Reptile ownership has grown in recent years, with around 6 million U.S. households now caring for at least one pet reptile. At the same time, the Southeast has seen a rise in invasive reptile populations, largely due to human-related activities such as pet releases and accidental spread. Join herpetologists in our Coastal Ecology Lab to explore the responsibilities of reptile care, as well as the impact of invasive species. Through live demonstrations at our Brunswick office, you’ll safely interact with reptiles commonly found in the pet trade, along with invasive and non-native species found in Georgia and Florida.
Learn about their behaviors, adaptations, and care needs while gaining practical tips on preventing the spread of invasive reptiles, reporting sightings, and supporting conservation efforts to protect native wildlife and preserve healthy ecosystems.
Cost: $15. Registration is required for all participants. This program is designed for ages 10 and up, but younger children are welcome. All children must be accompanied by a registered adult. Tickets are nonrefundable. Learn more at https://bit.ly/44Lhg3H
