Moniz Hemlock
Moniz Hemlock is a duo consisting of Emilie Eie and Vidar Seljen Høydal, exploring improvised noise music. With both vocals and instruments, they create an intense atmosphere of sharp sounds and unexpected rhythms. Each performance is an unpredictable journey into the unknown, drawing listeners into a world of chaotic beauty and hypnotic noise.
Audun Aschim
Direct from a tour in Nigeria to Stavanger! As part of the pre-release world tour for the upcoming album "The Headtrip of Liminal Spaces," set to be released in early 2025, Audun presents an atmospheric and cinematic soundscape with guitar and electronics at its center. Joining him on the album are the virtuose harpist Hanna Rabe and drummer Axel Skalstad.
Vok Ens & John Derek Bishop
Spellemann-nominated John Derek Bishop has, for many years, made a name for himself as an exciting and prominent voice in the alternative electronic music scene in Norway, both under his own name and the alias "Tortusa." In collaboration with the improvisational vocal ensemble Vok Ens, a new and innovative musical expression is created. Vok Ens released their debut album in 2021, produced by Anita Kaasbøll. Six improvisational vocalists (Dorothea Økland, Karoline Karlsen, Isabelle Kongshaug, Anna Klungre, Andrea Opdal, and Emilie Eiemøter) now collaborate with a musician who can manipulate their already exploratory vocals. Bishop’s live sampling of the vocalists spontaneously transforms the recordings into new sounds and textures. Nuances of the female voice, textual improvisation, and harmonies meet a harder electronic expression in "Sentient." The album was recorded during an intense recording period at various venues in Stavanger in the fall of 2020 and was released on Jazzland Recordings in the spring of 2023.
