Learn how to research your ancestor's military past and the resources available to family historians at this free talk. Are you curious to know more about the World War I or World War II military service of a relative? Do you want to know more about where they served and the battles they fought in? Not sure where to start or can't understand the abbreviations in their attestation documents?
Join us at Anzac Square Memorial Galleries on Sunday 9 November for a free talk with Research Librarian Christina Ealing-Godbold who will be sharing tips and tricks on how to investigate your ancestor's military past. This talk will explore the resources available at State Library of Queensland as well as other collecting institutes such as National Archives of Australia, Trove, and the Australian War Memorial.
Questions are welcome! Whether you're a beginner starting to trace your family history or a seasoned researcher looking to dig a little deeper, this talk has something for all family historians. After the talk, visitors can stay to explore the Memorial Galleries - embarking on an interactive journey from the First World War to today, before taking time to reflect on the remarkable stories of bravery and sacrifice in the tranquil parklands.
Anzac Square Memorial Galleries is located at 285 Ann Street, Brisbane. Entry is through the double brass doors located beneath the Shrine of Remembrance.
