About this Event

The workshop will bring participants together to replicate studies published in leading journals, creating opportunities to identify complementary expertise and develop future collaborative research, with the potential establishment of a UQ-Kansai Smart Tourism Alliance.

Many of the theories and research methods commonly used in tourism, hospitality, and visitor economy research were developed in Western cultural contexts. This interactive workshop explores how these established frameworks can be critically evaluated, adapted, and replicated to generate new knowledge relevant to Japan and its regional contexts. Participants will also examine how real-world industry and policy challenges can be translated into rigorous, theory-driven research questions, providing a practical pathway for developing impactful and internationally collaborative research.
