Repair, Restore, Resurge! Reclaiming Human Values in Healthcare
About this Event
Our fourth very popular HVHF annual replenishing event offers a welcoming, convivial space in a beautiful venue for all those working in health and social care. It offers opportunities to connect, converse, share stories and practical ideas, to enjoy good food, to listen to inspirational speakers, and to be restored and replenished.
“The NHS is broken” is one of the most unhelpful statements made by a healthcare leader. It saps morale, disparages the commendable endeavours and resourcefulness of healthcare staff, and undermines all those who are still valiantly committed, despite difficulties, to offer high quality, compassionate, person-centred care. Furthermore, it does not address the moral injury suffered by many working in the NHS, particularly in relation to the pandemic.
In this event, we will explore the value of repair and how we can restore meaning, purpose, and even joy in our work (and lives). We will explore variants of the hopeful concept of Kintsugi – creating something new and more beautiful from what is broken.
Together we will share ideas and skills for developing and sustaining human values in professional education and work, for restoring ourselves and others, and for co-creating pathways for recovery and flourishing.
You will also have fun!

"Expectations were exceeded! The day was so interesting, and provided time to connect, discuss and think about the practice of medicine, learn what others are doing to ensure the patient is heard and central to their care. And what happens to them. The speakers shared their innovations and thoughts on the struggle to keep medicine relational, compassionate and creative - overall a truly inspiring day, Hope was restored!
