Our talk series continues with the next presentation being at 7pm at The Coliseum on Monday the 8th September 2025 where we will welcome Christiane Kroebel who will speak to us on “Remembering St Hilda from the 7th to the 21st century through stories, churches and the landscape” Christiane is the archaeology and local history recorder for Whitby Naturalists and the curator for the Abbey collection at the Whitby Literary and Philosophical Society at the Museum. She will be talking of recently published research looking at how St Hilda is a well-known and much-admired figure from early medieval England and associated closely with Whitby. Her talk will explore both St Hilda’s life and afterlife and how she has been remembered over the years finishing with the recent pilgrimage routes that have been established in the area. Please come along and support the presentation if you can.
