Remembering D V by Aditya Modak

Journey through the artistry of Pandit D. V. Paluskar, brought to life by Aditya Modak in an evening of soulful melodies, engaging narration, and thoughtfully crafted visuals. 

 A homage to the legendary Pandit D. V. Paluskar, whose music and legacy continue to inspire generations, this concert is conceived by Aditya Modak as both tribute and personal reflection on a deeply influential musical journey. An A-grade artist of All India Radio and senior disciple of Dr. Ram Deshpande of the Gwalior gharana, Modak’s work is shaped by a deep engagement with the Paluskar tradition. He also played the lead role in the internationally acclaimed classical music–based film The Disciple. Designed as an immersive experience, it brings together classical khayal compositions, thumri, and bhajans associated with Pt. Paluskar’s repertoire, accompanied by narration and thoughtfully curated visuals that evoke the golden era of Hindustani classical music. 

 The performance flows as a musical journey through forms central to his artistry, progressing from vilambit to drut khayal, moving into thumri, and culminating in bhajans. Interwoven narration by Neerja Apte introduces each piece with context and anecdotes, allowing audiences to connect more deeply with the music. Featuring Bharat Kamat on tabla, Ajay Joglekar on harmonium, and Shruti Bhave on violin, the concert offers a meaningful homage while creating an engaging and immersive experience for contemporary listeners.
