About this Event
We are celebrating the 250th anniversary of the founding of our nation in 2026. We hear a lot about the battles and the great men who wrote and spoke on revolution. But what about the ladies?
This year, the ladies of Southeast Mercantile want to celebrate women and their lives during the revolution. This is the first of a series of presentations on how the war effected women and how they participated in the fight for freedom.
Janet Pyatt will be our featured speaker for this first program. She is the proprietor of The Backcountry Peddler, and has been studying the clothing and fabrics of the 18th century for decades. She is a master seamstress who has produced authentic reproductions of 18th century clothing for individuals and museums. She has an extensive library on the subject and will bring all of these years of study and experience to the program.
Admission is $10 per person, with $5 of each admission going to the Rowan Museum to support their work in preserving and presenting the history of Rowan County. If you wish to make an additional donation to the museum at the event, we will be accepting donations on site
