Join Durand-Hedden House & Garden as we kick off the 2025-2026 season on Sunday, September 28, with "Remedies from the Garden: Eighteenth-Century Women as Healers." Attendees will enjoy two presentations focused on the role of women and their gardens in sustaining and healing their families and their communities.Karen Bloom Gevirtz, author of The Apothecary's Wife: The Hidden History of Medicine and How It Became a Commodity, will present at 1 pm, and Lesley Parness, garden historian and writer, will present from 2:15 pm to 3 pm at The Woodland Parlor, 60 Woodland Road in Maplewood. Visitors will then be welcomed at Durand-Hedden House from 3 pm to 4:30 pm for refreshments and a guided tour of our beautifully revitalized herb garden.
While this event is free, we ask visitors to consider purchasing at least one donation ticket. All donations are welcome, appreciated, and support Durand-Hedden's mission, upkeep, and community events. Both complementary and donation tickets are available at DurandHedden.org. Parking for the Woodland Parlor and the reception at Durand-Hedden House is available on nearby streets.
