Enter the Reliquary.
During Hunters Point Shipyard Open Studios, 10/17-18, Afatasi opens the doors to Reliquary Afatasi for a rare series of intimate, small-group experiences.
The Reliquary is a sacred cultural space, a sanctuary housing Afatasi’s monuments, Memory Tiles, relics, studies, and sculptural works—objects created to carry lineage, memory, and cultural knowledge forward.
For 20 minutes, only eight guests at a time will enter the Reliquary with Afatasi.
Inside, guests will be personally guided through selected works and the stories, histories, symbols, and ideas held within them. This is an opportunity to encounter the work differently: away from the crowds of Open Studios, in the intimate space where the collection lives, with the artist herself.
Light refreshments will be served, and each guest will leave with a small keepsake from the experience.
What to Expect
Your reservation grants access to one scheduled 20-minute Reliquary experience. Please arrive 10 minutes before your reservation time to check in. Entry is limited to eight guests per session, and each experience begins promptly so that the intimacy of the gathering can be preserved.
Outside the Reliquary, visitors can enjoy Afatasi’s larger Open Studios presentation and shop a selection of artwork and objects throughout the weekend.
Only 80 reservations will be available across the entire 2-day Open Studios weekend.
Once a session is full, the doors close.
