Relief Printing Workshops with Flycatcher Press

Join us for a series of workshops on February 1st & 2nd and March 8th & 9th at Cecil Community Centre at 58 Cecil Street, Toronto, ON M5T 1N6 for two levels of printmaking workshops with Flycatcher Press, suitable for beginner and intermediate printmakers.

Please read the following descriptions for the times and dates for each workshop. Each ticket price is for one individual workshop session. If you'd like to take both the Intro and Intermediate workshops, you must buy 2 tickets, one for each day. Early Bird pricing will be available for the first week of ticket sales.

Introductory Workshops | Sat Feb 1 or Sat March 8, 1:30 - 4:30pm

Phoebe Todd-Parrish will walk you through the process of taking a design and carving into your own soft lino block, followed by single colour prints in a colour of your choosing. The workshop is 3 hours and you will be able to take home your 4x6 block and as many prints as you can make. Make sure you wear clothes that you can get messy in!

Intermediate Workshops | Sun Feb 2 or Sun March 9, 10:30 - 4:30pm

Phoebe Todd-Parrish will teach you the intermediate technique of reduction printing (multiple colours, and will discuss other techniques, including puzzle prints or multi-block prints.

You will be given a small 2x3" soft lino block to practice on, and then a 5x7" hard lino to make your final design. The workshop is 6 hours with an half hour break for lunch. Participants will be able to take home your blocks and as many prints as you can make. Make sure you wear clothes that you can get messy in!

Flycatcher Press was founded by Phoebe Todd-Parrish in 2017. Phoebe produces fine art prints, cards, posters, notebooks, and bespoke stationary. She loves teaching and spreading the joy of printmaking, and teaches in academic institutions and local printshops.
