Think again. Joined by duet partners from the past, present, and future, The Drunken Tenor’s bringing a flask of fresh, fermented fun brewed in his cask of comedy opera. The December 11 performance of The Drunken Tenor's "A Very Drunken Christmas Carol" will be a Relaxed Performance.
All patrons are welcome at our Relaxed Performances. We welcome everyone to enjoy the show in the way that is most comfortable for them. Perfect for first time opera-goers, those looking for a more casual experience, students and youth who are curious about opera, and individuals with sensitivity concerns or disabilities. While the opera performance itself will have no changes, in order to make this experience more accessible, we will adapt the performance experience in the following ways:
-Lights in the seating area will be dimmed rather than fully dark during the performance.
-A relaxed atmosphere allows patrons to talk and vocalize as they wish.
-There is no ‘shushing’ during the show. If you are someone who enjoys silence in the opera house, this performance might not be for you.
-Patrons are free to leave and re-enter the seating area as needed. Upon reentry, you may be reseated in a different seat that is more easily accessible in the dim lighting.
-A Sensory Guide is available in advance or printed copies are available on site.
-Tagney Jones Hall Sensory Seating Guide to help audience member select seat levels that match their needs.
-An area of the lobby with a live feed of the performance will be available for patrons with fidgets and other relaxation tools.
-An additional reduced-sensory space will be available for patrons if they wish to take a break from the performance.
-We encourage patrons to bring their own noise-canceling headphones and fidget if desired. Additionally, we will have noise-canceling headphones available for checkout.
-An area designated as a movement section for patrons who wish to stand and/or move around as they enjoy the performance. Look for the signs.
-An area designated as a technology-use section for patrons who wish to use tablets, cellphones, etc. as they enjoy the performance. We ask that patrons use headphones when using their devices, or turn the sound off. No photography or videography of the production is allowed. Look for the signs.
