About this Event
Join Glenis Redmond's final Cave Canem Fall Workshop session, for a reading from students and Glenis Redmond's herself.
This poetry workshop addresses medical crises. Redmond draws on inspiration from Lucille Clifton's succinct poetry and her use of dates as anchors to face the unutterable. She guides others to follow Clifton's map of time-stamped poems, while encouraging participants to use dreams, memories, and imagery to navigate their health traumas. Glenis, a Multiple Myeloma survivor, encourages all to face their shadows—the shadows that haunt and emerge stronger with a trembling bright belief of a stronger self on the other side.
Reception with light refreshments at 6:30pm (ET)
