About this Event
We invite you to join us at the Heritage Center to discuss our next book, by Rudolph Villarreal.

Nonfiction
304 pages, first published 2002; new addition 2016
Not much has been written about the Hispanics who wore the uniform in WWII. In this work of nonfiction, Villarreal shines light on the often-overlooked contributions of these men who often came from working class immigrant families. His well researched collection of biographical accounts documents how they served as pilots, navigators, bombardiers, flight engineers, gunmen, and radio operators. Villareal not only highlights their contributions, sacrifices, and heroism but also connects them to their personal stories and local communities.
Our book club provides a relaxed and cozy setting. Each month, we gather to explore and discuss a book with a regional focus. These thoughtfully curated selections of non-fiction and fiction will provide the opportunity to delve into the rich tapestry of our local culture and history.
As an added treat, every month we will feature a new artisanal tea to sample from Ribbons Tea House and sample some retro vinyl from Deadwax Records as we explore engaging books together.
Whether you are an avid reader or just looking for a pleasant way to spend an evening, our book club welcomes everyone. Meetings will be on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:00 PM. We look forward to evenings of great books and engaging discussion!
