Good People,

Welcome to our second immersive weekend devoted to learning about circular and regenerative economic practices. We invite you to immerse yourself in nature and community, and to explore how we can consciously and effectively respond to the Earth's call for regeneration.

Retreat Objectives
  • Gain a basic understanding of the circular and regenerative economics frameworks, which challenge traditional assumptions and explore innovative approaches to a thriving civilization in harmony with a thriving natural world.
  • Explore the interconnectedness of human society and the earth’s ecosystems in the anthropocene era. Reflect on how your personal transformation can contribute to global regeneration.
  • Learn simple yet powerful practices to directly experience the regenerative power of nature, fostering a deeper connection with the biosphere.
  • Acquire strategies for turning eco-anxiety into regenerative action, while promoting mental well-being in the face of environmental challenges.
  • Develop an action plan for implementing regenerative initiatives in your personal and professional life, with guidance and feedback from experienced facilitators.

By the end of the retreat, participants will have gained essential knowledge, skills, and inspiration to contribute to the regeneration of our world.

Who Should Attend

This retreat is ideal for anyone interested in taking their understanding and commitment to sustainability to the next level.

  • Any person concerned with sustainability and the unraveling of our natural world.
  • Both burgeoning and seasoned environmentalists.
  • Business leaders, entrepreneurs and other professionals who want to invent flourishing dynamics between business and environmental restoration.
  • Persons suffering from eco-anxiety, solastalgia, burnout or overwhelm concerning our individual and collective struggles towards living sustainably.

Program Overview:

The Regenerate the Earth retreat is structured around three core pillars.

Regenerative Thinking

  • Learn the basic principles of circular and regenerative economics as taught by the retreat facilitator, Manuel Maqueda, at Harvard University.
  • Challenge traditional assumptions about sustainability and gain new perspectives that have the power to revolutionize your approach to economic and environmental issues.
  • Bust widespread myths and misunderstandings concerning sustainability, and dare to view sustainability challenges and solutions in an entirely new light.
  • Get inspired by regenerative solutions already being implemented all over the world.

Regenerative Being

  • Explore your feelings as an active participant in the onset of the Anthropocene (the era where the world is being unraveled and remade by human activity.)
  • Reflect on how this transformed world has the potential to transform you, and the ways you show up in the world to engage with your community.
  • Discover how your personal transformation can contribute to the regeneration of the world.

Regenerative Experiences

  • Engage in simple but transformative practices designed to directly experience the regenerative power of nature.
  • Reconnect with the web of life and rekindle your relationship with the natural world.
  • Rediscover the profound interconnectedness of all living beings and the regenerative potential that lies within each of us.

Facilitation, mindfulness and somatics
  • Creative, community-centered facilitation: Through a creative and community-centric model of facilitation we will endeavor to create a safe, judgment free and inclusive container, where everyone feels welcome to actively engage and co-create the learning experience.
  • Masterclasses: we will engage in a few brief but illuminating masterclasses led by a recognized expert in circular and regenerative economics.
  • Small Group Work. We will be working in small groups, so be ready to make new friends and heartfelt connections with others.
  • Mindfulness Practices: we will engage in nurturing mindfulness practices to cultivate a sense of inner peace and clarity to enhance our ability to effect regenerative action in the world.
  • Somatic Practices: we will resort to easy somatic practices to help us connect with self, with the group, and with the regenerative power of our mother, the Earth.

WHAT CAN YOU BRING?

Glad you asked.

This is a warm time of year, so layers of loose clothing are wise, as well as shoes you can easily slip on or off as you enter and leave Hilltop Hall.

Please bring your own water bottle and metal cup and reuse these all weekend. Reusing cups really helps cut down on dirty dishes.

Bring sunscreen, mosquito repellent, camping gear (if you choose this lodging option) and snacks or drinks you might like to share. We may travel uphill or downhill and weather can vary a lot. We are at 3,500 feet of elevation and it can be much hotter or cooler uphill or downhill from us.

We ask that you please carpool in as few vehicles as possible. Parking is limited. The drive is just 140 miles or about 2.5 hours from SF.

We encourage you to consider a visit to Yosemite National Park before or after this retreat. If you choose to go, please visit their web site and be sure to reserve an entry pass.

Please remember to be super fire safe.
