The Academy of Danse Libre is one of the nation's premier vintage dance groups. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area and touring around the world, we perform a variety of breathtaking pieces from the 19th and early 20th centuries in authentic period attire. Each of our dances brings a bygone era back to life, complete with the music, footwork, dress, and mannerisms of the time. Through the accurate recreation of these historical periods, we introduce our audience to a rich and evolving culture of dance.

Step into the world of Jane Austen and Bridgerton for an afternoon of historical elegance that shall surely set every tongue in the ton a-wagging.
At 1:00pm, the Academy of Danse Libre presents a special showcase performance spanning our full historical repertoire from the Jazz Age to the 1810s.
At 3:00pm, the Hillside Club transforms into a Regency Assembly Room. Guests are invited to join our dancers on the floor for a social ball accompanied by live musicians and called by the accomplished Cassiane Mobley.
Whether you come to witness the performance or to dance the afternoon away with a favored partner, it is certain to be the “diamond” of the season.

Do I need to wear a costume?
Regency costume admired but not required for guests at the Hillside Assembly Rooms! Please wear non-marking shoes.
Will there be seating?
There will be seating during the 1:00pm performance but seating will be limited for the 3:00pm social ball.
What kind of food will be served?
Light snacks and non-alcoholic beverages will be available.
Is there parking available?
Street parking near the Hillside Club is available. Space may be limited, so consider arriving a little early if you need to find a parking spot.
Are children allowed at this event?
Children are welcome with a ticket, but must be supervised by an adult at all times.
