Details: This lesson is split into three sections:
The Dance Class: 6:30-7:30pm – For beginners to cover the basics of Regency and Georgian contra (or country) dance, including arms, simple footwork and easier dances. For those new to Georgettes and/or historical dance, it is recommend attending this class for at least the first term.
The First Season: 7:30-8:30pm – Our middle hour is open to all and focuses on learning steps and medium difficulty dances. We also have some time for a social break during this hour.
The Nonpareil: 8:30-9:30pm – Suitable for intermediate historical dancers During the final hour of the class we learn more complicated footwork and harder contra (or country) dances.
How Much Does it Cost
The cost is £5 for the class, whether you stay for one, two or three hours.
Once you have attended two classes, and decide you would like to continue, there is an annual fee (due in January) of £10 to cover insurance. Reduced to £5 if joining after June.
What to Wear and Bring
There is no kitchen, so it is advisable to bring a bottle of water with you.
Please wear comfortable clothing and footwear for moving and dancing around in.
Not essential but Ballet or Jazz shoes or Greek sandals are recommended for regular attendees.
No partner or costume necessary.
Over 18s only.
As well as learning dances our favourite Heroes and Heroines would have danced to, these are social dances and the aim is to have fun!
