Write Space is a pop-up place for you to work on your creative writing project alongside other writers in a quiet, low key environment.
About this Event

An Oxford Poetry Library hosted session to support creative writers who would like to connect with others and to kickstart or develop their writing, Write Space begins with a helpful writing prompt to get you started. We're based in a bright, welcoming room at the Oxford Poetry Library. Come and join us for an hour or two, and get those words down!

When is it?

12.00-2.00pm every third Friday, from January-June 2026. We're now meeting slightly earlier, over the lunchtime period -but we take a break half-way through so feel free to bring a sandwich.

Where is it?

The event space at the Community Works, 21 Park End Street (look for Lula's Restaurant, our event space is at the back).

Who is it for?

Writing can be a lonely business and sometimes it can be hard to protect time for yourself to write when life weighs in. Write Space is for anyone writing creatively (poetry, fiction, drama, creative non-fiction…) who would value this space.

Write Space is facilitated by OPL volunteers, Ruth and Jacquie.

How do I take part?

Save your spot by registering for a ticket here in Eventbrite. Donation amount suggested is £3, with all funds going to support the work of the Oxford Poetry Library and its running costs.

We’re asking everyone to pre-book so we can plan well and make sure there’s plenty of space for all.

Do I have to come for the whole time?

We’ll start with a gentle writer’s warm-up then we’ll work in peace on our projects. We’ll take a short break before a second block of writing. If you arrive between those times, you’re welcome to settle in quietly - we’ll look forward to chatting to you in the break!

What should I bring?

Bring what you’re working on and what you like to write on/ with. Bring your own drink or maybe buy one at Lula’s, the restaurant at the front of the event space.
