Regal Theater Construction Kick Off
About this Event
On behalf of The Port of Greater Cincinnati Development Authority (The Port) and the Robert O'Neal Multicultural Arts Center (ROMAC), you are invited to attend the ceremonial construction kickoff for the Historic Regal Theater.
Originally opened in 1914 and renamed the Regal in 1941, this 1,500-seat venue has a rich history as a hub for community and culture, hosting nationally recognized musicians and serving as a vital gathering place within the neighborhood's historically vibrant African American commercial and cultural district.
After closing in 1996 and falling into disrepair, the Hamilton County Landbank (a managed entity of The Port) acquired the building in 2013 and began critical stabilization work to preserve the historic structure for rehabilitation.
In 2019, The Port and ROMAC partnered on a redevelopment plan and have made significant progress securing funding, establishing partnerships, and advancing the building's restoration.
Please join ROMAC, The Port, Sanders Development Group, 8K Construction, and DNK on September 2, 2026, at 11:00 AM (Eastern Time) at 1201 Linn St to celebrate this milestone and the highly anticipated revitalization of one of Cincinnati's historic cultural landmarks.
Thank you to the City of Cincinnati, Duke Foundation, Greater Cincinnati Foundation, Haile Foundation, Millstone Foundation, Ohio Department of Development, Ohio Facilities Construction Commission, and the Procter & Gamble Foundation for making this project possible.
