Refill & Relate: An Authentic Mom Meetup - July
About this Event
Join us monthly! This is a free support group for moms of elementary-aged (give or take) children. The inspiration for this group is to find authentic connection. We all deserve a safe space to strip away the "everything is fine" facade. I've often felt alone and confused in motherhood. My hope is to create a safe space for those who are looking to rediscover themselves through conversations and community.
July Topic: Raising Capable Kids: Shifting from "Fixer" to Coach
It’s our natural instinct to swoop in; tie the shoes, make the snack, resolve the sibling arguing and so much more. Although doing everything ourselves saves time in the short-term it can leave us completely drained, while unintentionally missing opportunities for our kids to figure things out on their own.
This month, we’re diving into how we can step back so our kids can step up.
We’ll be pulling some incredible, refreshing insights from the book Hunt, Gather, Parent by Michaeleen Doucleff. (No need to read the book to join the discussion, this is just a resource.)
Instead of the constant policing, bribing, and lecturing that leaves modern parents exhausted, we'll talk about ancient, time-tested strategies for raising genuinely helpful, self-reliant kids.
We’ll chat about:
- Becoming a "Coach" instead of a "Fixer": How to guide them through a problem without taking it over.
- The power of dramatic under-reaction: Why calming our own anxiety is the secret weapon to diffusing their tantrums and stumbles.
- Building a team dynamic: Shifting from forced chores to naturally integrating kids into the household rhythm so they feel capable and connected.
Let’s figure out how to give our kids the gift of autonomy and give ourselves a much-needed breather.
See you soon!
