Reeth Informal Astronomy Group – Drop-In Observing SessionReeth Informal Astronomy Group invites you to a relaxed drop-in astronomy observing session, open to anyone with an interest in the night sky — no prior experience needed.
The event takes place on Friday 20th February, from 7:00pm to 9:30pm, at Reeth Evangelical Congregational Church, which benefits from a pleasantly dark garden for observing and a warm indoor meeting room for comfort and conversation.
If skies are clear, several telescopes will be set up outdoors, giving visitors the chance to observe celestial objects first-hand. Group members will be on hand throughout the evening to answer questions and chat about what you’re seeing.
Inside, there will be a display of astrophotography images taken by members of the group. Should the weather be cloudy, the evening will instead include an introduction to affordable robotic telescopes, showcasing the new technology that is transforming amateur astronomy.
The event is free to attend, though donations are welcome.
Any contributions collected will be shared between Swaledale Mountain Rescue and the Church, who are kindly providing the venue.
A friendly, informal evening celebrating astronomy — whatever the weather.
