Join us for an afternoon of youth-made cinema as we celebrate the premiere screenings of films created through Reel Stories Summer 2026!
About this Event

This mini festival marks the first public screening of our Reel Stories Summer 2026 student work, and we're incredibly proud of what these filmmakers created in such a short amount of time!

Friends and family are invited to come celebrate what these filmmakers have been working on and cheer them on at their first official screening. Please RSVP so we have a sense of attendance and know who to expect.

Following each film, the audience will have the opportunity to hear directly from the filmmakers during a live Q&A about their creative process, collaboration, challenges, discoveries, and the stories they chose to tell.

We'll also be featuring short films from our Producer team, who are all alumni of Reel Stories programs and helped guide this latest cohort through the finish line this summer.

Reel Stories is a youth media program that works to address the persistent gender imbalance in film production by centering the voices of young women and gender expansive youth. Whether through a weekend workshop or an immersive summer camp, participants work with professional equipment and industry mentors to write, direct, shoot, and edit original films in a supportive, collaborative environment.

We hope you'll join us in celebrating the creativity, hard work, and imagination of this year's filmmakers!

COVID-19 Safety

If you are feeling sick or have had a known exposure to COVID-19, we ask that you please stay home.

All films screened at the festival will be available on YouTube a few weeks after the program concludes, so you'll still have an opportunity to watch the films if you're unable to attend the screening.

Masks are recommended but not required.

From The New Parkway:

"We recommend that you come to the theater on foot, by bike, or public transportation if possible. We are close to several key bus lines (51, 1, 72), a six-minute walk from the 19th Street BART station, and we have ample outdoor bike parking."
